Being Transformed by Renewing Your Mind: Part 4

The Scriptures present a constant contrast between those who are devoted to God and those devoted to the world. God will inform you that some are “spiritually” minded while others are “carnally” minded. The spiritual man is distinguished by a spiritual mind which should cause you to seek the spiritual mindset that distinguishes them as God’s possession.

Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success which is a simple idea that makes all the difference. Mindsets frame the running account that’s taking place in your inner being. It guides the whole interpretation process. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” – I Peter 1:13.

According to the latest brain research, your ability to manage thoughts, emotions and behaviors is a learned ability that anyone can master. Since, your success is no longer determined by current results, circumstances or even genetics. you now have the ability to shape your results by learning how to retrain your own brains deliberately by putting your confidence, hope and trust in the Lord.

God is our authority, even when it comes to our thoughts, therefore, God is our authority in every area and His thoughts are righteous, pure, and holy, we should model our thoughts after them. This is difficult for us since “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). This sin has affected everyone’s thoughts as well. Evil thoughts are entirely against God’s nature, which is ultimately why God sent a worldwide flood to judge the earth: “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them” (Genesis 6:5–7).

We are all finite, limited beings living in a sin-cursed universe. There may be times when our thoughts are like God’s thoughts. After all, believers are to “be imitators of God” (Ephesians 5:1), and both men and women were created in the image of God. Nevertheless, we need to realize that God is infinitely intelligent, thus His thoughts are infinitely higher than our thoughts. Human thoughts have a beginning, yet God is the Beginning and End (Revelation 1:8). “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

There are Several Different Mindset:

Courageous Mindset:

This type of mindset pushes you to walk victoriously and exhibit a positive attitude during difficult time.

This type of mindset learns from previous failures, discouraging faults and prevailing shortcomings.

This type of mindset pursues ambitions, dreams and goals with enthusiasm and strength.

This type of mindset has a fervent attitude and passionate character which highlights the crucial role of courage in the process of personal growth and change.

Fear Mindset:

This type of mindset is controlled by fear, worry, doubt and dread which will cripple you in your life endeavors.

This type of mindset will affect you mentally, physically and spiritually which causes and creates stress.

Fixed mindset:

This type of mindset individuals believes their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits.

This type of mindset spends time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. They also believe that talent alone creates success without effort.

This type of mindset assumes that character, intelligence, and creative ability are static givens which can’t change in any meaningful way.

Success is the affirmation of that inherent intelligence, an assessment of how those givens measure up against an equally fixed standard.

This type of mindset strives for success and avoid failure at all costs which becomes a way of maintaining the sense of being smart or skilled.

Growth Mindset:

This type of mindset believes that the most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work in which brains and talent are just the starting point.

This type of mindset creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities.

This type of mindset thrives on challenges and sees failure not as evidence of unintelligence but as an encouraging springboard for growth and for stretching existing abilities.

Status Quo Mindset:

This type of mindset is not worried about its circumstance and does not know how come out of comfort zones. Since, it just like go with the flow.

This type of mindset shows no ambition whatsoever and will remain on the same situation. They do not have “clarity and purpose” for their life.

Out of these mindsets, which you manifest from a very early age, springs a great deal of your behavior, your relationship with success and failure in both professional and personal contexts, and ultimately your capacity for happiness.

You must not become totally immersed and consumed in your own problems, bound to your past hurts, fears, pain, wounds and circumstances which are chains of sin because then you’ll see everything that happens to you from your own horizontal viewpoint. And, not from God’s perspective or the mind of Christ; you won’t be transformed into God’s image, but simply conformed to the world’s image.

Lastly, you must get back to the fountain of living waters. Without the discipline of renewing the mind, you will not be mentally prepared to receive instructions and assignments from God. If your mind is filled with earthly, empty, sensual and worldly thoughts, then God cannot entrust you to speak or act in His behalf. The Word of God is urgently needed in these times. God’s people need to rise up, first in disciplined thinking, then in disciplined lifestyles, to know Him, to glorify Him and to obey Him. The importance of renewing your mind will help you deal with setbacks that try to hinder your focus and allow procrastination to step in. Important as it is, it’s difficult to be focused and disciplined without a renewed mindset. Every great success requires some kind of struggle and good things really do come to those who work hard and struggle to pursue goals and dreams believe in. To radically change your life, you have to change yourself. You must start building your new mindset today and think the thoughts that are godly, holy and wholesome will help you move toward your goals right now. You must realize your outer nature is wasting away and inner nature must be renewed by setting your mind on things that are above. Though your outer nature is wasting away, your inner nature is being renewed day by day.
