21–Day Intercessor Prayer Challenge

What is the difference between Prayer and Intercession? Prayer is door God’s promises and intercession is the key to unlocking it. Prayer starts with you and what you know to be the obvious facts as you bring them before God. Intercession is a part of prayer in that it involves talking and listening to God, this is why so often it can become confusing because to this extent intercession is prayer. But it goes deeper, and this is where the differences occur. Intercession involves a standing in the gap, an intervention, a stepping in on somebody else’s behalf through prayer. Don’t get confused you can all pray for people when you are with them or when you are not, but intercession goes deeper.

Prayer makes a way for God to act Sovereignly on Earth: Isaiah 43:26; Jeremiah 1:12; Matthew 6:10

When we align ourselves with the purpose and power of God, and He is able to do things through us that He could not do otherwise. Fervent and humble prayer has limited some of His activities on the earth and will respond only to the prayer of His children. God seeks for a person, an intercession, to plead for His perfect will to be done one earth as it is in heaven.

Intercession and Prayer Starts and Ends with God:

1 Corinthians 1:4; Ephesians 6:18; James 5:13-14

Many times, prayer will lead to intercession, where God takes over and you are praying in ways you do not understand for people. Many times, you won’t understand why you are praying and what you are sensing, however, God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. You must be obedient in praying so you can sense what God’s Will. Sometimes, God will allow you to know the outcome, yet, there will be times when you won’t know because it is all in God’s divine will. Our responsibility is to be obedient.

Intercession can be described in other ways such as: intervention, mediation, arbitration or negotiation:

Psalm 118:25; Romans 15:30; 1 Timothy 2:1-2

So, as you may see intercession is talking with God about a certain matter or person and asking God for mercy or for healing or such things on their behalf, as an intercessor you mediate or stand in the gap for someone or something else.

Prayer causes God to have compassion upon our daily needs:

Matthew 11:36; Philippians 3:15

Prayer is the one thing that can change the Lord’s mind toward His children. Prayer gives revelation knowledge and the mind of God through His Holy Spirit. Intercession prayer allows God to pinpoint a problem area in someone’s life or in going situation, in which will allow you to see what He sees.

As you continue in prayer, the kingdom of God will become real through the miracles of God operating in your life. You will see the manifest power of God confirm your spiritual walk.

“He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him” Isaiah 59:16 (NKJV).

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” John 16:23–24 (NKJV).

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” Romans 8:26 (NKJV).

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” Jude 1:20– 21 (NKJV).
