Physical and Spiritual Detoxification – Session Twelve

Detox, Cleanse and Rebuild Your Body for God:

We are cut off from the healing calm of nature, cleansing and detoxifying your body and its processes through fasting has become popular in mainstream culture, yet significant misunderstandings abound. Toxins build up resulting from the pollutants in the air we breathe, water we drink, and chemicals found in food, household supplies and beauty products; additionally, toxification results from eating an acid-forming, denatured and processed food diet, and living with stress, electro-magnetic frequencies and radiation.

A three–day fast helps the body rid itself of toxins and cleanses the blood. A five–day fast begins the process of healing and rebuilding the immune system. A ten–day fast can help fight off illness, including degenerative diseases common to our chemically polluted environment.

5. Your Body –

Our bodies were created to bring glorify to its Creator, God. Many people get depressed, many people overeat or drink excessively and/or turn to substance abuse, because they are trapped by the sins of the flesh. "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NKJV). There are many who will put their bodies through great distress, because they can’t control these tormenting urges brought on by the flesh. I believe it’s because Satan will turn us against our bodies, so that he can take totally control over our body, mind and spirit. Also, it’s another a way of him getting back at God. Because, our bodies are precious to God. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service” Romans 12:1 (NKJV).

Satan knows that God considers our bodies His temple and therefore God wants us to keep our bodies holy, healthy and honoring to Him. So, because our bodies are holy to God, Satan would love to have us harm them, mutilate them, starve them, and destroy them with substances. Don’t let him in. We are called to live in Spirit and in Truth, also to worship the Father in spirit and in truth. When we worship in truth, we don’t worship empty philosophies that come from the world’s way of thinking.“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8 (NKJV). Instead, we focus on the message and the truth of Jesus Christ. Not in how you dress. Not in how you see yourself. Not in how you treat yourself. Ask God for a healthy body image and a desire to protect your body so you can serve Him on this earth in it for as long as possible. Satan wants to enter your life to destroy your entire being or existence. God gives us a great defense through His Word according to Ephesians. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” Ephesians 6:11–18 (NKJV). However, it’s interesting that every piece of our armor described in the passage refers to the character of Christ. In other words, we are to put on Christ–likeness, and allow Christ to abide within us so that we are clothed in His character and righteousness. All this will give us the offensive and defensive tools to fend off the attacks of the enemy.

Interrupting the Spirit of Fear –

The Father never gave us the spirit of fear. Instead He gave us love, power and a sound mind. Fear wants to take rule over our mind, body and soul. “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:6–7 (NKJV). If it takes rule, we won't move forward in obedience to what God has created for us to do. Fear is paralyzing, hindering and crippling. It is not our friend. Fear is an enemy. You could never be at peace with fear. There is no joy with fear. There can be no increase with fear. It comes to steal, kill and destroy.“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” John 10:10 (NKJV). Fear comes into our body, mind and spirit by the devil, to steal our dreams, sabotage our hopes and kill our faith in the Father. Jehovah God told the Israelites to fear not because He was with them and that same God is with us."Fear not, for I am with you;Be not dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you,Yes, I will help you,I will uphold you with My righteous right hand'"Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV). There is absolutely no need to fear man, a situation, circumstance or anything. If God be for us, who can be against us. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us” Romans 8:31 (NKJV)? Whenever you feel afraid, remind yourself that fear never comes from God; it comes from evil. God gives you a spirit of power, love, and peace–not fear. God built a “flight–or–fight” mechanism into you for your protection. The rush of adrenaline known as a “panic attack” will also, when you’re facing real danger, give you an instant boost of strength. But Satan and his demons, as they always do, have taken God’s gift and have corrupted it by using it against you. They do it by planting thoughts into your mind, thoughts of impending disaster and doom. They are behind all of those “what if” questions that tie you in knots of fear. The “voice” you “hear” in your thoughts sounds like your voice, yet, it may be the voice of a demon, impersonating you by somehow injecting thoughts into your mind. In this way, demons are able to trick you into believing their lies.“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV). No, most of your fear is being caused by a “spirit of fear”. God has given you power to overcome. He put His power into His Word. But that concept is “foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the Power of God”. Keep this in mind that fear is not just a physiological response to circumstances. It could be a spiritual phenomenon inflicted by the devil. Rather than placing your faith in all the “what –ifs” of life and feeling afraid of what may or may not happen, place your faith in God who is in charge of your future and wants what’s best for you. Pay attention to specific, persistent fears in your life, because they reveal the areas in which you’re trusting God the least. Pray about each area you identify as a problem, surrendering each one specifically to God and asking Him to help you trust Him more with it. Then be diligent about seeking God so you can consistently grow closer to Him. The closer you become to God, the less you’ll struggle with fear.
