Physical and Spiritual Detoxification – Session Sixteen

Essential Benefits of Spiritual Detox:

Heal the Brokenhearted and Bound their Wounds –

The Great Physician can completely heal our broken heart and bind up our wounds, healing and making us whole. But, just as with any physical wound, we have a role to play in our healing. There are steps The Healer would have us take to partner with Him in our recovery and restoration. Yes, sometimes God chooses to work a miracle in our lives, healing us immediately of the pain and completely shutting up our wounds for good. However, for many of us, spiritual healing will be a process. “He heals the brokenhearted, And binds up their wounds” Psalm 147:3 (NKJV). Our soul grows the most when it is been wounded, the more pain you are in, the bigger the opportunity for growth. As with any physical wound, spiritual wounds must be thoroughly cleansed in order to prepare for complete healing. And that can really be a painful process. While trusting that God is doing His part to bind up our wounds and ultimately heal us, we can help by vigilantly protecting our wounds. Our cleansing must start with prayer. We must come to Him, earnestly asking in faith that He heal us and make us whole. And we must be willing to receive our healing. Endings are requests for a new beginning. If you have something you’ve always wanted to do, create or share, now’s the time to do it. The best creations were born out of a seeming loss. Though most spiritual wounds are caused by others, we ourselves can be the cause of our spiritual damage. No matter the cause, unforgiveness is at the root. We must ask God to help us forgive those who’ve hurt us (even if that means asking Him to help us forgive ourselves). Forgiveness is a choice that has to be made to break the cycle of chronic spiritual debilitation and bondage. When we forgive, we purge bitterness, strife, resentfulness, hurt, anger, guilt, self–pity; toxins that otherwise would negatively affect the wound and hinder its ability to completely heal. This cleansing prepares us for our long–awaited, complete healing. Fasting is an effective and safe method of helping the body detoxify itself. In fact, fasting is recommended for any illness because it allows the body to rest and recover. Acute illnesses, colon disorders, frequent colds and headaches, low energy levels, allergies, and respiratory diseases are most responsive to fasting. Additionally, by fasting regularly and resting one’s organs, the aging process can be reversed, helping you live a longer and healthier life. This spiritual detox will help us not only rid the body of toxins, but also the spirit of impure emotional and environmental things can affect us long this journey called life. It is essential that we spiritual detoxify our spirit man, so that we can have a clearer and renewed focus vision of what God’s will is for our personal, professional and spiritual lives.

Spiritual Ways to Detox Your Life:

The modern lifestyle does have its advantages over previous ways of living, but it also contributes to the stress and health crisis prevalent in many countries. We have more stuff, but less time to enjoy it. We have more doctors, but less health. We have more food, but less nutrition. There is an overlap between mental and spiritual detox. What you choose to call it is not important. Grudge holding, resentment, and guilt could fall into either or both categories. An example of spiritual toxicity is trying to force yourself to believe and live according to religious teachings that don’t align with your true beliefs. Likewise, when your ego beliefs are not aligned with spiritual truth, that is unhealthy. These beliefs and their resulting behaviors are epidemic and easy to spot. They result in causing harm to yourself and other human and non–human beings. You must mindfully start training yourself to start looking for the gift in the moment. Like anything worth practicing, it can be difficult at first, however, over time it will become simpler and easier. Keep in mind that the best way to detox your life and promote holistic health and healing is to avoid inner and outer toxins whenever possible. Discover how to hold a powerful intention to create something you really want and release attachment to receiving it, trusting that the universe will deliver what you need. Keep your home and environment clean, healthy, orderly, and pleasing to your senses. The payoff is a healthier, happier life for you and all whose lives you touch.

1. You must Surround Yourself with People who Bring you Joy into Your Life.

People have a huge impact on your life. Some people can be parasites. They suck out your happiness, energy and maybe some of your tangible resources as well. You can make you laugh and genuinely make you happy. Laughter is good for your soul. Seek the company of those who make you feel unburdened and unrestrained. Learn how to live our life on purpose, while focusing things that are important to the kingdom of God. Learn how unselfishly enjoy others’ acquaintances, friendships and relations, these are the things that will make your life become more meaningful. They are people that will inspire you to be a better person, provide you with motivation to achieve your goals, empower you to make the changes you need to succeed and cheer on your success. In the workplace, good people tend to be productive people. They’re organized, create schedules they stick to and don’t get easily distracted from the end goal. And all this help you be more productive, yet it’s important to note that “good” does not mean similar. Too much of the same thing can inhibit growth. You want to have diversity and healthy arguments. You should have an eagerness to soak up knowledge, and differing perspectives can help you with that.

2. You Should try Shift Your Compulsive Addictions toward Kindness and Joyfulness.

Addictive behavior is the result of a primal desire to self-sooth. Anything can operate as an addiction if done habitually and for the purpose of fulfilling a need to be tolerably numb. We turn to addiction to escape pain, but the escape itself perpetuates our pain, and thus begins a dangerous spiral. In reality, when we attempt to kill off our pain, we often engage in other self-destructive behavior. We forget that psychological pain has a purpose and is actually an adaptive function warning us that something’s wrong. As human beings, the deepest, most core conflict we face is whether or not to feel. Working through our emotions helps us to learn, grow and develop. They are spiritual drugs that can make anyone feel more rejuvenated and vibrate. Adopting an attitude of self-compassion allows us to accept that our suffering is a part of being human. It teaches us to exercise self-kindness, patience and acceptance in our journey to grow and change. Additionally, practicing mindfulness can help us learn to sit with our thoughts and feelings without allowing them to overpower us and drive our behavior. When yourself to others by empowering and encouraging them through your personal testimony or witness. You can also receive an act of kindness, your body releases serotonin, an endorphin. As you practice a random act of kindness, you’ll feel wonderful while doing so.

3. You Should Make Time each Morning and Spend Quality Time with the Lord.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV). Throughout the centuries, Christians who loved the Lord and sought to know the Lord have discovered many enjoyable, beneficial ways to spend their mornings with Him. We’ll go through some of these discoveries. But first, let’s quickly refresh our view on what this morning time with Jesus is all about. Each morning you should spend quite time with the Heavenly Father, for this will help you develop a deep meditative life to follow the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit. Spending time with the Lord Jesus each morning isn’t to fulfill some kind of religious duty or perform a ritual. “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples” Psalms 96:3 (NKJV). If we just “clock in” and “clock out” without our heart being in it or our spirit engaged, we may develop a habit, but it won’t be an enjoyable one nor will it help us know the Lord more or grow in Him. Keeping a lifeless practice is pointless and fruitless. Instead, we should approach our time in the morning as an opportunity to be with the One we love and who loves us, our dear Savior Christ. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV). The Lord Jesus is a wonderful Person who lives in us. The goal of this time is to contact Him in our spirit, be fed by Him in His Word, enjoy Him, receive His speaking, and speak to Him. With this in mind, let’s look at some ways we can spend time with Jesus each morning. Because, meditation soothes the soul. You should seek the Lord early in the morning, again in the noon day and before going to bed at night, this will surely aid you with clearing away the waste of spiritual junk food. Listening to your spirit mind, which gets its wisdom directly from the Holy Spirit will give you a quick path to shedding that which does not serve you or the Kingdom of Heaven.

4. Daily Seek the Lord.

Seeking the Lord means seeking his presence. “Presence” is a common translation of the Hebrew word “face.” Literally, we are to seek his “face.” But this is the Hebraic way of having access to God, to be before his face is to be in his presence. The Bible repeatedly calls us to “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore” 1 Chronicles 16:11 (NKJV). God’s manifest, conscious, trusted presence is not our constant experience. Consequently, there are seasons when we become neglectful of God and give him no thought and do not put trust in him and we find him “visible”, which is, unperceived as great and beautiful and valuable by the eyes of our hearts. “God calls us to enjoy continual consciousness of his supreme greatness and beauty and worth.” “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it” Psalm 118:24 (NKJV). His children are called to seek His face, which is the brightness of his personal character that is hidden behind the curtain of our carnal desires. This condition is always ready to overtake us. That is why we are told to “seek his presence continually.” God calls us to enjoy continual consciousness of his supreme greatness and beauty and worth. We need the Lord to help us along this journey, because this a place of safety against the wiles of the devil and deceptive influence from wicked people. So, when you turn to joy, which is at the core of essence, your foundation, since you are spiritual being who are going to daily share a human experience(s). Sometimes the heaviness of our human experience can weigh us down, this is why we must be connected to the right spiritual resource. It’s important to remember that you are more than this physical body, you are expansive consciousness incarnate. As such, you can find and experience joy even within difficult circumstances and trying struggles.

Tend to your spiritual health and well-being. By taking the time to step away, you are better able to tap into your deepest potential to manifest your desires with effortless ease. Without being swept into the constant churn of striving toward perfection, you become aware of the choices you are making in every moment, and how those choices shape your being. Learn and discern spiritual truth and aim to live by it. “That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” Ephesians 4:22–24 (NKJV). This may or may not have anything to do with religion. Forgiveness is a most important way to detox your life. It heals and frees your spirit and your whole being. Tune in the next time you feel resentment or bitterness. Notice how it poisons your mind, body and spirit; so let the past go. Cultivate inner peace with the help of the personal peace process. Then you are much less reactive and affected by toxic situations. Release what keeps your spirit small, limited, separate, and in pain. Healthy detox your life habits in mind, body, spirit and home are an on–going process. It takes commitment, knowledge and discipline. It is not about perfection but moving in a more positive direction. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (NKJV).
