Day 4: We Need a New Heart to Lead a Spiritual Mind- Part 2

The brain (mind) teaches us how to deceive, lie. manipulate and scheme in order to meet one's own personal agenda. God has put a spirit of conviction within our hearts that soul duty is bring us to a level of remorse and godly sorrow to correct us when we do or plan to do something wrong. However, the world system teaches and trains us to bypass our heart conviction and walk after the desires and lusts of the flesh. This why we continue to operate within the realm of our feelings and emotions, which keeps us trap to the old man or old nature. This is the reason why we have such a chaotic and ungodly world. This is also the apparent reason why no one is seeking after God for a changed: new heart; which has to come from a renewed mind. Many believers don’t desire or want to be transformed by the renewing of the hearts, because it's going to separate them from the desires of their flesh. Because, they are not willing to give up the eternal gratification that comes from a sinful lifestyle or immoral living. Everybody is moved by their emotions through their own logical or rational minds, which always looks out for self or the self-agenda. Emotions and logic react to the threatsthat they perceive around them from external sources, they are ruled by the old man or their old nature. They continually and daily are in a power struggle, so that they aren't willing to allow this new heart to take root within their inner man.

The word heart is used in different ways all the way through the Scriptures. The Bible says that we are born in sin and shaped in iniquity. “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me” Psalm 51:5 (NKJV). We are born with an “old heart” nature that is already coated with the potential to do evil and wrong. When we come into the world, our hearts are already shaped for this sinful existence. Iniquity is anything you do that God is not in or contrary to His Word. It is anything done against the will of God and against the laws or nature of God. Therefore, if something is contrary to His character, it is iniquity; since, we have been shaped in that area by what society has taught and trained in our early childhood developmental stages. Because, the heart is composed of the potential and tendency to sin, our mind is gradually trained to resist God's will and be drawn to the natural of sin. The Bible says that your heart is full of evil imaginations. “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage” Deuteronomy 8:11–14 (NKJV). The Bible indicates a great deal about the condition of the average person’s heart. Your heart is deceitful. You can’t trust it, if you’re outside of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in Matthew that our hearts don’t desire the things of holiness and righteousness. “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me” Matthew 15:8 (NKJV). There are many within the body of Christ that are unwilling to follow after holiness and righteousness. Many just go through the daily rituals with their mouths, but they continue to dishonor God with their words, thoughts and deeds. Keeping mind that your heart is your true self, which has become carried away or taken up with the things of this world. You have very little time in private for God. You spend far more time watching television than you do reading the Bible. You spend far more time on Social Media than you do in Meditative time, than you do in prayer. You don’t make God your first priority when you are need of advice, you will consult the ungodly instead of seeking out the godly; because you don’t want to turn from the errors of your way. The Bible says that our hearts have become evil, vex and wicked. “Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened” Romans 1:21 (NKJV). The Bible teaches that your heart is dark because your spiritual eyes have been blinded by the god of this age. This is why we must understand that importance of us receiving this new heart. And the Bible teaches that your heart can be hardened. “But this people has a defiant and rebellious heart; They have revolted and departed” Jeremiah 5:23 (NKJV). The Bible says He knows the heart and all your secrets that are hidden within it. It’s impossible for us to hid or withhold anything from God, because He knows every single thing that goes on there. The Bible says that only God can change the heart, because He searches the heart. “I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings” Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV). The Bible also states that God considers the deeds of the heart. “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts” Proverbs 21:2 (NKJV). You can rationalize your sinful lifestyle or living that the way you’re walking and the way you’re doing things when they our contrary or in opposition to the Word of God. But the Bible says God doesn’t take your evaluation and your judgment, however, the Bible says that God reflects the condition, nature or state of the heart: meditating on it, evaluating it according to His Word.
