FAITH AND PRAYER: WEEK 3

Answered Prayers, Our Assurance:

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God” John 16:23-27 (NKJV).

Are you confident that the Lord will hear and answer your prayers? Do you daily seek Him for direction and guidance? One of the reasons we may be struggling with doubts and fears is because we don’t realize that all God has done to make it possible for us to bring our requests before Him.

ASSOCIATION:

Our sins once separated us from God, but Christ gave His paid the price on Calvary so that we have an opportunity for external life. On the cross our payment was paid for our penalty, At the moment of our salvation, we enter into an intimate association with God the Father through His Son.

ACCESS:

With our new relationship comes access and priviledges to the throne of grace, when we come boldy with a humble and sincere heart. Now, we can boldly stand on His promises and confidently bring our cares, concerns, problems and worries to Him.

AUTHORITY:

In the Gospels, the Lord's prayers always carried the power of His divine blessings, breakthrough and position. Now, because of our association with Him through salvation, Christ has given us the privilege of praying in His name according to His power and authority. We can seek Him for safety and protection from the cares of this life.

AGREEMENT:

Now, through our prayers we can come in agreement with His Word and with others who are seeking Him daily as ourselves. In Jesus’ name we should always be in agreement with what He would ask for, making sure that it aligns with His promises and will for our lives. In other words, our requests must align with the character of God and the contents of His Word. It does no good to attach Jesus’ name onto a petition or request for something outside of His will, or predestined desire for your life.

ASSURANCE:

When Jesus told His disciples He would answer requests offfered in His name, He was saying that we can pray with assurance because of our association and agreement with Him that is personally connected to Him by our faith.
