Fear over Faith 8-Week Challenge: Day 33

Without Faith It’s Impossible to Please God - Part 1:

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV).

When it comes right down to how God interacts with humanity, we see that our faith is the leading substance that invites and maintains His presence in our lives. Nevertheless, faith is the substance that may also cut through the physical realm and connects us with God in such a powerful way. We first have to understand that faith is “confidence” and “trust” in the Lord. Our faith in God through Christ is the core foundation upon which our lives as Christians are built. Secular definitions of faith often refer to belief without evidence, but the writer of Hebrews points to “God’s revelation in Jesus.” Faith is a must. Faith is the entrance point to a relationship with God. He interacts with us based on His grace, we respond in faith. Given the basis of this type of relationship we understand how important faith is to the believer. Faith is what makes Him become real into our lives. Whenever we allow unbelief to get the most of us, we literally turn God off. Unbelief is a poison for both unsaved people’s eternity as well as our relationship with God. Our maturity along with our ability to endure life’s bad circumstances will be based on the type of faith we have in Him. Therefore, let’s please God through the means of trusting Him in a way that reveres His character. Once we understand that, we can understand why it is impossible to please God without faith. Without faith we won’t believe in God. If we could please God without faith, we could please God without trusting Him. Have you ever had someone distrust you? Have you ever had someone you had helped again and again distrust you? That is a very painful experience. Without faith we won’t believe He’ll be there to listen when we cry out to Him. Faith is raising the sail of our little boat until it is caught up in the soft winds above and picks up speed, not from anything within itself, but from the vast resources of the universe around us. Without faith we won’t be assured that He’ll answer our prayers and respond to our petitions. First, His unseen presence is everywhere; in other words, His presence is all around us. Faith in God is the fundamental element that enables us to acknowledge, revere, and embrace His absolute existence and divine presence.

Without Faith It’s Impossible to Please God - Part 2:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind”James 1:5-6 (NKJV).

If faith is the starting point, then it makes sense that faith is a key element for life. Faith is an indispensable necessity in order to please God. We’ll never be able to fully comprehend as to why faith is such a critical matter to the extent that people’s own eternity hinges on whether or not they’re willing to exercise faith in God on the basis of Christ’s finished work on the cross. But even so, we’ll take a look at it on the account of what the Word of God has to say about the vitality of faith. To have faith in God is to trust Him above all. The main point is that trust itself has to do with the integrity, reputation, character, image, and ability of someone. Based on that statement, it’s quite easy for us to realize why God is not pleased as a result of people’s unbelief. When people cannot trust God with their lives, it doesn’t honor whom God is, it doesn’t honor His Word, and it doesn’t honor His integrity as well. No ray of sunlight is ever lost, but the green which it awakes into existence needs time to sprout, and it is not always granted to the sower to see the harvest. No one has given more, loved more, or done more for people than God. He is constantly loving and helping people, and even sent His only begotten Son to be tortured and killed for us. Faith is active according to A.W. Tozer, and it will “allow the teachings of Christ to dominate our total lives from the moment we believe.” That is not to say that God is not pleased when an unbeliever starts to seek God and his faith is building. All work that is worth anything is done in faith. Basically, without faith we won’t even believe God is there, and if we don’t believe in Him, how can we ever please Him? Nothing in life is more wonderful than faith-the one great moving force which we can neither weigh in the balance nor test in the crucible.

Without Faith It’sImpossible to Please God - Part 3:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,“The just shall live by faith” Romans 1:16-17 (NKJV).

Understanding that God rewards the faithful begins with drawing close to Him, but faithfulness leads us to actively and outwardly imitate the One we trust. Believers must realize that faith is the key to receiving many of the blessings and promises of God. God wants Christians to have faith so He can bless us. What would prevent us from having faith? Why would we not trust God? Christians must guard against mental laziness or anything else that stands in the way of receiving all the blessings of God, and be willing to press forward, ever growing in the Lord. God has so much He wants to give us, let’s do our part and trust Him so the windows of heaven are open to us. Our faith in God through Christ is the core foundation upon which our lives as Christians are built. Faith is what makes Him become real into our lives. If it is impossible to please God without faith. The opposite is also true; faith is what pleases God. As in our examples from the gospels, faith was important to Jesus, He looked for it and responded to it everywhere He went. So the underlying truth to draw from is that God responds to faith. It pleases Him, it moves Him to act and it is essential in the life of the believer. Faith involves whole-hearted pursuit on our part with the promise of finding God. God expects us to seek evidence (knowledge) but to also cultivate virtue and love; fellow feeling. Faith in Him allows us to stretch out our own belief and hope by making them go beyond the natural boundary of our finite mind and this world.

The Faith of the Patriarchs:

“By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones ” Hebrews 11:17-22 (NKJV).
