DAY 10: Learning To Activate The Power of Prayer – Part 2

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

Prayer is powerful and it unlocks power. Jesus gave the disciples power to perform miracles while also coaching them for the trials that would beset them; perhaps these trials stick in the minds of believers. The name of Jesus Christ is powerful, and it can perform miracles when such is the will of God, but what is the point of saying Jesus Christ is the “name that is above every name” “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” Philippians 2:9 –11 (NKJV). If miracles do not occur when we invoke His mighty name.

Jesus emphasis this point further. “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Matthew 7:22–23 (NKJV). He says many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’

The graciousness of God and the power in the name of Jesus will allow for some forms of success in miracles when calling on that name even done with the wrong motives. But Jesus says when it all comes to the last day, He expects to have known you. Using the name of Jesus without knowing His heart is careless and an offense to what He came for.

As bearers of the name of Jesus, we are to take on His likeness. We are to love others the way Jesus loved them and to desire their best in every circumstance even if it comes at what seems to hurt us. Although we know we are amazing, we don’t seek glory because we trust God will lift us up in due time. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double–minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up” James 4:8–10 (NKJV). We pray in Jesus name because we are seeking to continue to advance the kingdom Jesus established.

For many, who often forget to pray0 about many things. They press through obstacles moving towards those things they feel God is leading them around and through. Many will reduce the miraculous in their lives by thinking too highly of themselves, in which can accomplish on their own. Let us realize there is no problem too small to which to apply the name of Jesus. As we properly appropriate His name to all situations, we will have confidence to call on His name in those times we cannot see a way out. Nothing is impossible with God. Let’s start to pray more in the name of Jesus and find that there is power in that name.

The Word of God teaches us the purpose, practice, and power of prayer and how it can bring about miraculous change. If you are going to have a successful prayer life, you must learn how to reach and influence of your prayers, and how to practice through scheduled prayers and daily reminders. It’s time that you learn how to discover a more effective and meaningful prayer life that empowered by and enriched through God’s Word.

We should start with confession: we must admit our inability to pray as we ought. We must come face to face with our tendency to try to pray on our own. We start with the recognition that prayer is a spiritual activity, and the power of the flesh profits nothing at all. We should feel our dryness and difficulty and confess to him our dullness, lifelessness, and spiritual slowness and sluggishness.

Lastly, praying in the Spirit means that the Spirit empowers the prayer and carries it to the Father in the name of Jesus. The prayer has a living quality characterized by warmth and freedom and a sense of exchange. We realize that we are in God’s presence speaking to God. The Spirit illuminates your mind, moves your heart, and grants a freedom of utterance and liberty of expression. Praying in the Spirit has three aspects: (1) admitting our inability, (2) enjoying the creation of a living communion with God, and (3) pleading the promises of God with boldness and assurance.
