DAY 20: The Power of the Blood of Jesus

The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including Redemption, fellowship, healing, protection and authority over the devil. The Bible tells us many powerful things that the blood of Jesus does when applied. “But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance” Hebrews 9:7 (NKJV). As Christians, we know about the blood, sing hymns about the blood, and remember it during Communion. But how many of us truly know how deep its power runs, and all that it has provided for us? Even more important—how many of us use it and apply it in our lives every day? Blood is so important to God that it is mentioned in the Bible around 700 times. David referred to the “incorruptible” blood. Peter spoke of the “precious” blood, and John wrote of the “overcoming” power of the blood. “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands” Revelations 7:9 (NKJV).

From Genesis to Revelation, the words the blood are kept before our eyes, which is a reminder of its importance and significance to God and to us. Jesus’ name is used every day to perform a miracle: eternal salvation for each new believer. If that is not enough, Jesus walks with the believer daily, and every time a believer calls on His name, the clamorous call of sin in a person’s life is drowned by the echo of God’s promises claimed in Christ’s name. The broken are given a new identity: “God has not taken your name in vain, and declares value over you and your name, so much so that you are engraved on His hands. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul” Leviticus 17:11 (NKJV).

We were washed clean by the blood of the lamb, whatever was done to us, no matter what we did in the past, and our name is “beloved” regardless of the names we have been called by anyone else. “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” 1 John 1:6–7 (NKJV).

Because of the power of the blood of Jesus, you can come boldly into the presence of God. The blood of Jesus builds a mighty wall between sin and believers who have been made the righteousness of God through Jesus. “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” 2 Corinthians 5:20–21 (NKJV). The sacrifices of Abel, Noah and Isaac, and the Passover lamb, and the giving of the Law all came to pass, but “not without blood.”

The blood symbolizes cleansing and purification. The greatest thing the blood of Jesus accomplished was this, it washed all your sin away and made you clean and pure: white as snow. From the minute you receive Jesus as Lord of your life, God will not remember any past sin in your life.

That’s how powerful the blood is! “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” Romans 5:9–10 (NKJV). We have died to our past life and will die an earthly death, but Jesus raised us from death in sin to eternal life with the Father. He does not perform mere illusions for entertainment; Jesus Christ can be trusted. In His name, those who choose salvation will be donned in robes of white. A seat in heaven is reserved and paid for, and that is no parlor trick: that is the awesome power of Jesus. “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands” Revelations 7:9 (NKJV).

The blood of Jesus has the power to release the grip of the great curse, the ramifications for that are immeasurable. One way we recognize that the blood provided for fellowship with God is through the taking of Communion. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” (NKJV). “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes” 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (NKJV). That’s why Communion is much deeper than a religious observance, it’s a recognition of and fellowship with what God did for us through the blood of Jesus. When you take Communion, do you think of healing? Most Christians take the emblem of the blood and say, “Thank God, we are delivered from sin,” and that is true.

But according the Scriptures, Jesus’ sacrifice covered every area of man’s existence. He bore spiritual torment for our sins, mental distress for our worry, care, sorrow and fear, as well as physical pain for our sickness and disease. The stripes He bore and the blood He shed were for our healing. By His stripes we are healed. “Surely He has borne our griefs; And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:4–5 (NKJV).

Your natural blood supplies life, in which giving oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body. If the flow of blood were to be cut off from an area of your body, that part would begin to die. Spiritually speaking, any part of your life that is cut off from the blood of Jesus is dead or dying. Your blood also carries away wastes and toxins from your cells. Spiritually, without the blood of Jesus, your life would be filled with filth just like the Pharisees according to the book of Matthew. Thank God for the blood of Jesus that removes the dirt of sin from our daily lives! “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness” Matthew 23:27 (NKJV).

When the natural blood is healthy, you are protected from disease; and when you are spiritually healthy, there isn’t anything the devil can bring against you that the blood of Jesus isn’t sufficient to overcome. There truly is life in the blood! “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom” Matthew 26:28–29 (NKJV).

The blood of the Lamb is inexhaustible and never ending. It is an unlimited supply. When we apply the blood of Jesus to the doorposts of our lives in faith, as we access the power to defeat every part of the curse that tries to take residence. When you speak the Name of Jesus in the face of sickness, disease or danger, the blood of the Lamb is behind it, and you are protected.“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time” Revelation 12:11 (NKJV).

For, God is love and He represents the total existence of Love. And the greatest expression of His love toward us is the blood of Jesus. That love covers every need man has had or ever will have, and every time we apply the blood, we experience an outpouring of this love. It is love, through the blood, that has created a barrier between you and all the works of the devil. “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God” 1 John 3:8–9 (NKJV). Without the blood of Jesus, we are defenseless against the devil and his works. Yes, it’s good to have zeal and do good works.

It’s good to have a high degree of morality and a strong devotional life. But none of those things alone can cleanse, heal, or protect you. When it comes to your forgiveness and cleansing, your healing, protection, and deliverance, God is still looking at the blood.

God gave everything He had to redeem mankind from the curse. When we receive only part of His sacrifice, it’s an insult to Him. When we apply the blood of Jesus, and receive its power, we need to remember to apply it in its fullness. We can’t receive and apply it halfway, but through accepting everything Jesus’ sacrifice provided. If you fail to understand and receive the full power of the blood, you will be missing out. Paul wrote, that there are many who are vulnerable to enemies attacks because of their sinful nature. “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged” 1 Corinthians 11:30 (NKJV).

There is power in the blood of Jesus Christ! “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” Hebrews 13:20–21 (NKJV).
