Everything Jesus is and carries is in His name, so when the Son of God came into the world as the very presence of God himself, he was given a name: Jesus. “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:21–23 (NKJV). We should call his name Christ because he’s the Son of the living God. “Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” Matthew 16:16 (NKJV).
And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” Mark 16:17–18 (NKJV).
Our relationship with Jesus grows in strength as we experience His love and faithfulness in prayer. We pray on the basis of our relationship with Him when we pray in His name. Jesus comes to our aid when we call upon His name. He brings salvation and delivers. He sets free through the use of His name.
Whatever Jesus can do, the power in the name will do it when you use it. Whatever God can do you can do in the name of Jesus. We can only exercise our God–given authority only in the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus goes hand in hand with the fame of Jesus. I think that might be the shorthand way to remember what I’m trying to say. The name of Jesus goes hand in hand with the fame of Jesus. A name is a way of communicating with, and a way of communicating about, to all of the world, whom you’re talking about. And Jesus exists to be known; he exists to be addressed and praised all over the world.
“Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name” Romans 1:5 (NKJV).
“For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth” Romans 9:17(NKJV).
When we say, Jesus, it allows us to remember His absolute being or existence. That’s why God gave Jesus a name above every name and with a meaning: no beginning, no ending, no becoming, no changing. He is absolutely. There is power in the name of Jesus. And this power is available for those who know Jesus deeply and truly and love Him and to those whom He also knows and loves. There is power in the name of Jesus, when we have faith in the person behind the name. There is power in the name of Jesus, and signs and miracles and wonders will flow when we love and care for those in pain and need and suffering.
