Women of Excellence Rising Above the Norm Mother's Day Celebration Week - Day 4:

What is a mother’s love? The Bible defines mothers’ love as a sacrificial love. A mother loves her children with selfless love and is willing to give up anything for them. This type of love is unconditional and unchanging. Mothers are always there for their children, no matter what happens. If you think about it, our love is really based on how God loves us. He loves us when we mess up. He wants what’s best for us. In fact, God loved us before we were born and even while we were in our sin. God’s love helps us love our children well. Mothers are a blessing from God! As mothers, we have great compassion and care for our children. We were made to nurture them and give them all they need. Our love for our children often results in uncomfortable situations, sleepless nights, and giving up of our time. A good mother seeks to be a role model to her children, living in a way that she hopes they will one day follow. The example of a faithful mother can have an even greater impact on her children. The pattern she provides for her children is based on pleasing the Lord rather than pleasing men. The mothers of the Bible often faced incredible hardship and adversity, but they were never deterred. Through their faith and perseverance, they accomplished incredible feats that continue to give us hope and strength today. From Sarah, who gave birth to Isaac in her old age, to Rahab, who risked her life to save the Israelites, the mothers of the Bible are a reminder of what it means to be brave and faithful. They inspire us all, and their stories remind us that no matter what life throws our way, we can always find comfort in God's love and grace. "And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” Matthew 19:4-6 (NKJV).

Women have played a vital role in the Bible. From Eve to Mary and many other women, their stories have inspired and challenged us throughout history. While the women of the Bible are often remembered for their courage and bravery, however, mothers are often overlooked. Yet, without mothers, many of the most important stories of the Bible would not exist. The Bible tells the story of a mother whose love was truly inspiring. This is certainly not the only story of a mother’s love in the Bible, but it’s a great example of the lengths a mother will go to protect her child. Motherhood isn’t for the fainthearted. It isn’t just shopping at Target. It isn’t just stress over meltdowns and homework. Motherhood is a complicated endeavor that weaves together our fears, inadequacies, hopes, and promises into a pattern that looks nothing like we thought it would, yet turns out to be the most intense, stunning, and humbling display of all. – Mothers are a blessing from God.

– Mothers are to be honored and respected.

– Mothers are to be obeyed.

– A mother’s love is unending.

– A mother has the desire to care for her children.

“Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children. From now on each wounded, abandoned, frightened child is yours. You live in the suffering mothers of every race and creed and weep with them. You long to comfort all who are desolate.” ~ Charlotte Gray“ "A mother’s arms are made of tenderness, and children sleep soundly in them.” ~ Victor Hugo

If you’re a daughter, your mother is one person on this earth who will always be able to understand you. Mothers have the opportunity to teach their daughters how to grow up in this world. They are there to be their daughter’s guide, confidant, and friend for life. “The woman who is my best friend, my teacher, my everything: Mom.”~ Unknown

“Words are not enough to express the unconditional love that exists between a mother and a daughter.” ~ Caitlin Houston

The special bond between mothers and daughters and highlights the need to celebrate and cherish this unique relationship through meaningful and heartfelt expressions like mother-daughter. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, who offers us that nurturing comforter just like a mother. He nurtures us and leads us into truth. He tells us who we are in Christ. He speaks destiny and purpose into the core of our beings. He mothers us, for lack of a better term. When God created Eve out of the flesh of Adam’s body, He separated other aspects of Himself into her, the things we associate with the female gender, but that actually came from the Personhood of God. Motherhood is one of the most powerful words and experiences. It reflects differently on each mother and is one of the most sacred journeys you will travel in life."She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple" Proverbs 31:20-22 (NKJV).
