Women of Excellence Rising Above the Norm Mother's Day Celebration Week - Day 6:

The Bible has a lot to say about the role and traits of mothers and familial love. Mothers have been called the glue that holds the family together, although the glue is often underappreciated. Celebrating Mother's Day by acknowledging the woman who gets it all done not only provides a lift to her spirits, it helps to unify the family unit by pulling us together in a way only God would have designed. Her trust in God is most evident during the most trying and depleting seasons of her life. Like the widow of Zarephath, she lives by faith and not by sight. She trusts that God will provide for her family’s needs. When it seems like she’s drowning in despair, she keeps her eyes on God and claims His promises for each day. The idea of a mother's love for her children being unconditional is captured beautifully in the Bible, They feel valued and important. The bond a baby has with Mom is the baby's first relationship." "Mothers tend to be the primary caregivers, and if children don't feel loved, they internalize that and feel unlovable,

“Who can justly measure the righteous influence of a mother’s love? What enduring fruits result from the seeds of truth that a mother carefully plants and lovingly cultivates in the fertile soil of a child’s trusting mind and heart? As a mother, you have been given divine instincts to help you sense your child’s special talents and unique capacities.” ~ Richard G. Scott

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” ~ Washington Irving.

Mothers play a crucial role in their children's lives, and a deep bond is formed between them. Mom knows you and loves you like no other can; after all, she held you in her womb for nine months. The bond between a mother and son lasts a lifetime and this bond is so special. Time or distance can’t change this relationship, it is the purest love, true and unconditional. Mothers throughout history have been building His kingdom, through everyday faithfulness. May we continue that good work he has started in us. No matter what you face this Mother’s Day, you can turn to God and experience peace and healing through prayer. We have collected several prayers that can apply to your journey of motherhood. It is our hope that these will encourage your soul and speak life into your calling as a mom. A good mother prepares her children for life, helping them grow and develop physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally. “Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children. From now on each wounded, abandoned, frightened child is yours. You live in the suffering mothers of every race and creed and weep with them. You long to comfort all who are desolate.” Unknown

A faithful mother equips her children not just for life, but for a life of service for the Lord. She doesn't wait for inspiration or motivation to strike in order to get things done. She recognizes that everything she does is a gift and a blessing. From keeping a house clean and wiping slobbery faces, to folding mountains of laundry, she praises God — not because she has to, but because she gets to work with her hands to bless her family and glorify God. “She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her” Proverbs 31:26-28 (NKJV).

There is eternal value in even the most mundane moments if the Great Commission informs how we’re thinking about all of life, including what it means to be a mom. “Mothering (or nurturing) is a calling not just for women who have biological or adopted children. Mothering is a calling for all women. Every Christian woman is called to the spiritual motherhood of making disciples of all nations. Our nurturing is, by nature, missional. There is nothing more awesome and blessing than witnessing a child learn a new skill, whether it be riding a bike or using the toilet. Reaching milestones with your child means your hard work has paid off, and the sense of fulfillment you will experience far outweighs a paycheck. Our ability to connect with the world and our environment begins with our connection with our mothers. No matter our personality or the kind of mum we have, they contribute in shaping us the way we are today . In a nutshell, this is why Mother’s day is important. Mothers always do great things for the happiness of her family. Mothers always sacrificed her dreams. “Mothers and children are in a category all their own. There’s no bond so strong in the entire world. No love so instantaneous and forgiving.” ~ Gail Tsukiyama

“The bond between mothers and their children is one defined by love. As a mother’s prayers for her children are unending, so are the wisdom, grace, and strength they provide to their children.” ~ Unknown.
